Few product categories are surrounded by as much legal confusion as cannabis. Rules differ between countries, change frequently, and are often reported inaccurately. This article is a factual overview of the framework that applies to the products in our shop — what Czech law actually says, how the situation varies across the EU, and what responsibilities you have as a buyer.
The Czech framework: Act No. 167/1998 Coll.
The central piece of Czech legislation for this area is Act No. 167/1998 Coll., on Addictive Substances. Its §5 defines the conditions under which cannabis and cannabis-derived material may legally be handled — including handling for industrial, technical and horticultural purposes, and further processing.
This is the framing under which One More Puff operates. Every product in our shop is sold as a collector's item for technical purposes and further processing. In practice this means:
- Products are not sold, marketed or intended for human consumption.
- We do not and cannot provide any instructions or advice related to consumption.
- Product descriptions focus on what can be described objectively: genetics, origin, aroma profile, format and technical parameters.
Czech law also distinguishes cannabis by THC content. Following an amendment effective from 2022, the general threshold for what is treated as "technical cannabis" in the Czech Republic is 1% THC — one of the more liberal limits in Europe, compared to the 0.2–0.3% common elsewhere.
CBD and other cannabinoids
Cannabidiol (CBD) is not listed as an addictive substance under the Act. However, the regulatory picture for CBD in consumer products is shaped by EU-level rules as well — notably the Novel Food Regulation, under which foods containing CBD require authorisation before being marketed as food. This is a further reason why products in this category across Europe are frequently sold under collector's or technical framing rather than as foodstuffs.
How the EU picture differs country by country
There is no single EU-wide law on cannabis products; each member state sets its own rules. A few illustrative examples of how much the limits vary:
- Czech Republic: 1% THC threshold for technical cannabis.
- EU agricultural standard: the Common Agricultural Policy recognises industrial hemp varieties up to 0.3% THC for cultivation subsidies — raised from 0.2% in 2023.
- Germany: underwent a major reform in 2024 (the CanG law), partially decriminalising cannabis for adults — but its rules for commercial products remain distinct from Czech ones.
- Slovakia: historically among the stricter EU countries in this area.
- Switzerland (not EU, but a frequent reference point): allows up to 1% THC, similar to the Czech threshold.
The practical consequence: a product that is legal to sell in the Czech Republic is not automatically legal to possess in every other country. Limits, definitions and enforcement practice all differ.
The buyer's responsibility
When ordering from our shop — especially for delivery outside the Czech Republic — the responsibility for compliance with local law lies with you as the buyer. Before ordering, you should:
- check the THC limits and product rules that apply in your country of delivery;
- be aware that customs authorities in some countries may treat imported cannabis products differently from domestic ones;
- keep in mind that regulations change — what was true last year may not be true today.
The 18+ rule
All products in our shop are intended exclusively for persons 18 years of age or older. Age verification is a condition of purchase, and this applies regardless of the product category — flowers, hash, cartridges, vape pens or accessories. This is both a legal requirement and a standard we consider non-negotiable.
Why the collector's framing matters
Some visitors ask why product pages talk about genetics, aroma and history rather than anything else. The answer is simple: the collector's and technical framing is what the law permits, and we take it seriously. It also happens to suit us — the stories of strain lineages, the craft of traditional hash-making and the engineering of modern hardware are genuinely interesting subjects, and they're what this magazine is here to cover.
